The Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals announced that the InterContinental Hotels Group and Hudson Group were winners for the 2007 MarCom international awards competition that recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. There were over 5,000 entries from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in the 2007 competition. The Gold Award received by IHG and HCG was for the "green" program, known as re:serves, which diverted more than 257 tons of bedding material from a bedding replacement program for 55 Candlewood Suites properties. The bedding material was donated to 4,300 needy families around the country through a partnership with the National Furniture Bank. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. Winners were selected from over 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts – marketing, publications, marketing/promotion, public service/pro bono, creativity and electronic/interactive.
